Our global outreach in Sime Darby Energy & Utilities is vast, covering Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China and Qatar. We are supported by a team of over 3,000 people throughout our operations.

Engineering Services
The Engineering Services business unit, backed by a wide range of reputable products, provides and undertakes value-added engineering solutions/services which include System Design and Integration, Project Management, Installation and Maintenance, Training and Calibration. Our core sectors are:
Oil & Gas
Our Oil & Gas business unit is led by Sime Darby Engineering, a fully integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation and Commissioning (EPIC) service provider for the global oil & gas industry. Our strength lies in our capability to support the full upstream value chain as a one-stop solution centre for all oil & gas development needs. In addition, we have one of the largest fabrication yards for offshore facilities in the region, with an annual production capacity of 55,000MT per annum. With an expanding marine fleet to complement our fully integrated services, we are now poised to take a leading position in the global oil & gas arena.
Ports & Logistics
Our Ports & Logistics operations are based in China, with a combination of five inland and seaports owned and managed by our team of local experts. Our presence in Shandong Province is primarily located in prefecture-level cities of Jining, where we have ports that are dedicated to handling coal products, and in Weifang, where its multipurpose wharves are serving the bulk and general cargoes and with container operations in the near future.
With a designed total handling capacity of over 70 million metric tonnes annually, we aim to expand our portfolio further and set our aspirations to be a major player in the ports & logistics arena in China and the region.
Power
Based in Malaysia and Thailand, our Power business unit provides a combined capacity of more than 600MW. Our operations Malaysia is located in Port Dickson, in the state of Negeri Sembilan. We supply electricity through an open cycle system on a peaking basis to the national power provider, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). Through our operations in Laem Chabang, Thailand, we supply electricity to the national utility company, Electricity General Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and steam to our customers in the Laem Chabang Industrial Estate. In addition, our know-how in the operation and maintenance expertise of our power plants have earned us accreditation from the prestigious ISO 9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
Water Management
Through our operations in our Water Management business unit, we aim to become an integrated water resource management entity with involvement in the distribution, management and treatment of water supply and sewage services. This sector’s efforts involves the development of water treatment and distribution facilities namely in Malaysia.
Anticipating increased demand for water by 2010, we are currently running a pilot project to abstract groundwater in Cluny/Bedford estates in Perak, Malaysia. Up to 50 Mld is expected to be produced from the area. The second phase of the project will see production rates increase up to 500 Mld daily. The overall aim of the project was to ensure the region develops a ready water source from groundwater.
