SDE is a subsidiary of Sime Darby Berhad, Malaysia's leading multinational and one of the largest conglomerates in South East Asia. SDE was incorporated on 1981 under the name of Sime Darby Services Sdn Bhd. On 3 September 1983, the name was changed to Sime Sembawang Sdn. Bhd. and subsequently changed to Sime SembCorp Engineering Sdn Bhd in 1999. Sime SembCorp Engineering Sdn Bhd was then a joint venture between Sime Darby Berhad (70%) and SembCorp Utilities Pte Ltd of Singapore (30%).
SDE became fully owned by Sime Darby Berhad and was known as Sime Darby Engineering Sdn Bhd (SDE) since January 2005.
SDE is principally involved in procurement, engineering and fabrication of offshore platforms for the oil and gas industry. Commencing fabrication in 1984, SDE is currently considered as Malaysia’s leading fabricator in the Oil and Gas sector.
SDE has a proven track record to deliver a complete EPCIC package, including conceptual engineering, detailed design, procurement, fabrication, testing, pre-commissioning, load-out, transportation and offshore hook-up and commissioning of various types and sizes of offshore platforms.
SDE is the first Malaysian heavy engineering company to obtain the ISO 9001 and ISO 9002 Quality Assurance Certifications from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance Ltd (LRQA) of London in 1992. SDE operates an approved Quality Management System, which meets the requirements of ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001 which is independently audited by BQVI.
Since 1984, SDE has fabricated more than 150 structures for local and international clients.
