Sime Darby Marine (SDM) forms part of Sime Darby Energy & Utilities’ plans in strengthening its scope in the value chain for the upstream oil and gas industry. Based in Malaysia, SDM is a company whose principle activities are the ownership of marine vessels and other related portfolios.

SDM is the co-owner of a Utility Workboat cum Diving Support Vessel (DSV) – ‘MV Gerimal’. The vessel is able to perform a multitude of tasks such as offshore transportation and installation work, aside other works within the oil and gas value chain. This includes activities such as hook-up and commissioning, operations and maintenance, and decommissioning.

SDM is expected to receive three more vessels it has ordered on a co-own basis by end of 2010. The vessels include a 1600 MT Derrick Lay Barge (DLB) and two units of 8000 BHP Anchor Handling Tug & Supply (AHTS).
