Historically, the operation and maintenance company was formed in September 1998. It was then known as IVOGS Hin Krut Company Limited and later renamed as Fortum Energy Solution. Fortum (Finland) owned the Laem Chabang Power Company Limited (LCP).

In 2002 Sime Darby acquired Laem Chabang Power Company Limited. A few years later, as plans to build another power plant at Laem Chabang began to materialise, a decision was made to buy over the company with the aspiration to extend the operation and maintenance portfolio to the new plant. Thus, in July 2006, Fortum Energy Solution was bought over by Sime Darby and renamed Sime O & M (Thailand) Company Limited.

The company also achieved a reduction in the number of internal disturbances of more than 50 per cent.
