Incorporated in July 2005, Weifang Sime Darby Water Management Co Ltd employs a workforce of over 90 people to support operations in Weifang City in the Shandong Province of China.
With an initial capacity of 40,000 m³ per day, the treatment plant supplies water to the industrial users at the Hai Hua and Coastal City industrial areas. In October 2007, the plant was upgraded to treat total capacity of 80,000 m³ per day.
In line with the economic growth within the region, a second water treatment plant with the capacity of 60,000 m³ per day will be constructed. Expected to be completed towards the end of 2010, the plant can be used to cater to industrial and domestic consumption.
The company is developing a direct pipeline project via a Build and Transfer (BT) initiative to ensure a dependable raw water source. The initiative will also improve the water quality and raw water intake to meet the expansion and development plan of the Binhai Economic Development Zone.
